Description:

MELVIN LYLE HODGES (July 8, 1909-Feb 25, 1988)--Leading missiologist; A/G pastor (ordained 1929); married Lois Crews, 1928); missionary to Central America (1935-1953), A/G field director for Latin America & West Indies (1953-1973), professor of missions at Assemblies of God Theological Seminary (1973-1984); awarded honorary doctorate from Northwest College, 1974; author of 12 books and numerous articles. His two most known books, The Indigenous Church (1953) and Build My Church (1957) shaped missionary policy not only for the Assemblies of God but for other evangelical missions groups as well. His books have been revised and reprinted and translated into numerous languages and used as textbooks in colleges and seminaries around the world.

23/6/2: SERMONS, GENEALOGICAL AND BIOGRAPHICAL MATERIALS: Printer's plate of the song Harvest is Passing / MLH. -- Three photo mats (undated). -- Passports (MLH and/or Lois, 1936-1978 + tourist cards. -- Sermon outlines in Spanish preached in Central and South America, 1936-1973 used in the book Morir es Vivir, 1995. -- Six small notebooks of sermons, some in English, some in Spanish, some typed, some handwritten beginning before his marriage and onward.
